April Mitchell is a military spouse, mom of 4, inventor, and life-long learner. She invented the Right Height adjustable over the door hook, which can easily be adjusted to allow everyone in the whole family to effortlessly hang their towels, jackets, backpacks, purses and more. Right Height is available online on Amazon, Wayfair, QVC and Bed, Bath & Beyond. April has licensed several products in the toy & game industry. One of her products Hooked on Hoops is currently available on Amazon and Wayfair websites and more of her products will be coming out next year. She also does design for hire work and collaborations with companies. She co-designed CLueLess The Party Game with Wilder Toys which is available in stores at Target, Barnes & Noble, Walgreens, and online. She continues to invent and design products in the housewares, novelty, party, and toy & game industries with the help of her family. April is a 2-time patent holder. She has been featured in the books “Become a Professional Inventor by Stephen Key, “Licensing Ideas using LinkedIn” by Benjamin Harrison and Stephen Key, and Women Inventor’s and the 7 percent by Robert Bear. April writes a monthly column in Inventor’s Digest called “Meant to Invent”. She teaches classes and webinars on the inventing process and pitching in the Toy and Game industry. She coaches new inventors on the licensing process through inventRight. April is also a natural health and chemical free-living educator and coach where she teaches others how to use natural products to help with a healthy home, body, and winning mindset.
I came to inventRight as a traditionally trained product designer, not entirely sure if a 6 month, 1 on 1 coaching package was right for me. However April quickly zeroed in on where I was in the 10 steps and we focused on those areas of weakness in my own inventing process. With her guidance I feel like I became a professional inventor in addition to being a professional designer, which was one of my major goals with this program. Specifically, I honed my ability to ‘get in’ to companies, how to respond to tricky back and forth communications with my target companies (great scripts helped a lot) and also how to contact many more companies than I was previously contacting. While I did not land my first licensing deal, I am certain that by incorporating the new knowledge gained through my wonderful coach April, and the inventRight system, I will soon make it happen.
Before we joined the inventRight Community, we were constantly starting and stopping projects without getting anything accomplished. We were assigned to April and she was the perfect coach for us. She helped streamline our ideas and taught us how to get a project done from start to stop. She is an amazing out of the box thinker and really takes the time to look at all angles of a project. I feel like we picked up a lot on her process and learned so much that we are actually confident now that we can bring our ideas to life. We completed three projects with her, and although our time with her is up, we can move forward successfully on anything else we want to do. She is a wonderful, fun, and friendly person and we would recommend her to anyone thinking about joining the inventRight Coaching Program!
April always has a smile and is so eager to help. She is very Professional and knows what she is doing and talking about. She is always on time for our meetings. April Gives Great Advice Always!!!!!
