Never Underestimate Yourself If You Want To Become Truly Successful

by | Sep 14, 2022

You can do anything.

I’m living proof!

I barely passed second grade.

Reading and spelling are nearly impossible for me, because I have auditory dyslexia.

Nonetheless, I’ve been publishing articles online since 2008 and have written five books.

How? With a lot of help. I’m an inventor, so I found a way.

That’s what we inventors do. We overcome obstacles.

Before I start to write a book, I ask myself, why would anyone care? What is the book going to deliver? In other words, what’s the benefit?

In that way, a book is exactly like a product.

These questions are a great guide in helping me develop a table of contents.

Because typing isn’t easy for me, I speak into my phone and then print out the dictation to review. Here’s an example of one of my latest books, Become a Professional Inventor.

My notes for each chapter:

Next, I send it to my daughter Madeleine, my wife Janice, or whomever I can convince to become my editor and my copywriter because the text needs a lot of cleaning up! And I mean a lot.

This particular book was self-published.

My good friend of over 20 years, James Shehan, then formats the book to be printed.

The whole process takes about a year.

When the first copy arrives in the mail, it feels amazing.

The day it hits Amazon is also exciting!

When people send me photographs of themselves and one of my books, that makes me the happiest.

After all that work, it’s time for a vacation.

My first book, One Simple Idea, was published in 2011.

Here’s what I’ve learned.

1. Creating something from nothing is magical, even when it’s a book.

2. Everything takes time, so you had better enjoy the journey.

3. Everyone needs help. Don’t be afraid to ask.

4. Don’t let obstacles stop you from completing your vision.

Thanks for reading!
