A Few Of My Favorite Things

A Few Of My Favorite Things

I’ve been collecting things all my life.

Even as a young child, my room was filled with things I collected.

Things that matter to me, and today is no different.

On my mantle, a fake grenade. This was a joke played on me by my best friend’s son. It wasn’t so funny at the time.

A bottle of champagne and a handwritten note from inventor Joy Mangano thanking me for an interview. Very unexpected.

I was invited to George Lucas's ranch along with my family, and in one of the studios, I was given a sculpture of Yoda.

A picture of my wife, Janice, when she was a Girl Scout. She's still a Girl Scout today!

In my office, I have an Edison award I received in New York City for my label innovation along with Coke, Ford, and Nike.

On my desk, I have a fish bowl of the guitar pick designs I created.

On my wall is a self-portrait created by one of my best friends Kelly Telfer when we were 18 on a sunny day in Los Gatos.

On my bookshelf, my father-in-law. He was one of my very best friends. I think of him often.

My favorite of all, a birthday card from my eldest daughter Madeleine… I love you

This is what being surrounded by these items reminds me:

1. Life is way too short.

2. Reach for the stars.

3. It’s the simple things that matter.
