Project Manager at inventRight Gateway

Denver, CO

Carrie Walton brings a unique blend of corporate expertise, entrepreneurial success, and a passion for invention to her role as a Coach and Gateway Project Manager at inventRight. With over 20 years in the healthcare industry, including significant sales, marketing, and training positions at leading companies like Johnson & Johnson, HCA Healthcare, and Cerner Corporation, Carrie developed a keen understanding of market dynamics and product commercialization. Her early career also included valuable experience as a paralegal, where she delved into product liability cases, further solidifying her foundation in intellectual property.

In 2001, Carrie embraced her entrepreneurial spirit as the joint owner of Topperscott, LLC, a company that successfully licensed ornament designs made from Sylvania lightbulbs to major organizations including the NFL, NBA, and NHL, alongside custom clients. This hands-on experience in securing and managing licensing deals culminated in the successful sale of the business in 2008, providing her with invaluable insights into the licensing world.

A firm believer in continuous learning, Carrie became an inventRight student in 2015, driven by her lifelong curiosity about how everyday items function and her knack for imagining improvements. "I'm a student of observation and love to watch how things work. I come up with ideas all the time and am always crafting things together," she explains. Her DIY ethos, inspired by her resourceful father and a family tradition of designing their own games, led her to apply the licensing process to a humorous novelty idea. While that particular venture didn't secure a deal, Carrie's persistence shines through as she is actively developing new ideas in the barware industry.

Joining inventRight's customer service team part-time in 2021, Carrie quickly transitioned into coaching and Gateway Project Management, where she now guides aspiring inventors. She deeply values the inventing community, describing inventors as "one of the most friendly, intelligent, and supportive groups of people" she has ever met.

As an inventRight coach, Carrie's objective is clear: "We're a team. My job is to teach you how to license your ideas; your job is to learn the process and license your idea." She is dedicated to supporting her students' goals, guiding them through inventRight's comprehensive 10-step program, and directing them every step of the way.

Living in Denver, Colorado, with the mountains at her doorstep, Carrie enjoys an active outdoor lifestyle, regularly hiking, trail riding, paddleboarding, and skiing. She is also a certified yoga and Pilates instructor and has built a home studio, reflecting her holistic approach to life and personal well-being.
