5 Tips To Love Your inventRight Membership

by | Jun 15, 2023 | 0 comments

As an inventRight member for almost 1 year, and bestowed the Rockstar member award by my Coach, Courtney Laschkewitsch, I am honored to share the ways I have eagerly engaged with my incredibly helpful coach, the inventRight community, and my own strengths to take my inventing and licensing journey to the next level.

Whether you are just getting an inventRight membership to help you license your ideas for new products, or a longtime member—I know these tips will enhance your ability to be a Best-in-Class student of the inventRight process, and land a coveted product licensing deal!

This is Part 3: Motivational Strategies, in a 3-part series. The previous topics were Part 1: Practical Strategies and Part 2: Relationship-Building Strategies. In this topic of motivational strategies, we will be discussing ways to keep your momentum—and stay well while plowing through tasks in order to secure a licensing deal!

Just to greatly emphasize these tips, I’ve made the choice to type the subheadings in ALL CAPS, with an exclamation mark following…so, please, get ready to GREATLY AMPLIFY your inventing abilities as an inventRight member!

TIP #1: STAY INSPIRED DURING YOUR INVENTRIGHT MEMBERSHIP!

“Inspiration” is a word that is often associated with creatives. In fact, the Oxford English Dictionary defines inspiration as: “the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.” For me, inspiration is: finding reference material to guide my designs, a competitive impulse which motivates me to up my game, a divine feeling or emotion that breathes life into me each day.

Whether through reading a book, going on a nature hike, having a great conversation, observing art, enjoying an impeccable meal, or more—find enjoyment in LIFE and CULTURE that invigorates you.

Personally, I enjoy watching inventRightTV videos on YouTube, listening to my Coach’s podcast (search: ‘The Serial Inventing Podcast’ on Apple Podcasts or Spotify), and PAYING ATTENTION to successful people in the community. Staying inspired is not only for the benefit of technical learning, but a reminder that greatness is attainable, and that you could be next!

TIP #2: KEEP A POSITIVE ATTITUDE!

I attribute my constant momentum to a positive attitude. Through all the ups and downs, always remember to enjoy life with a smile and laughter. Remember that many events are beyond your control. Learn to stay positive NO MATTER WHAT, and I tell you, the enthusiasm will light a fire in your soul. Keep going, with a positive attitude!

If you enjoy what you do, you will naturally play and try more new and exciting methods. You may get carried away with the fun and come up with 20 great ideas within 1 hour, and that’s great! When times are good, keep cashing in on the momentum, and soon you’ll be cruising along, having a blast!

TIP #3: FIND BALANCE!

REST is as important as work. If you are like me, there will undoubtedly be passionate flurries and marathons into the AM hours of the night at times, but please take care of yourself along the way. Monitor and nourish your health: mental, physical, social, spiritual. Minimize any potential damages to keep striving at your fullest potential.

When I had a lull during my inventing journey, I let my Coach know and also refreshed my mindset by having a couple coaching calls with more open topics such as an idea potpourri. Additional ways to promote balance include: exercise, sleep, meditation, getting out of the house, talking with a friend, taking a stroll, enjoying a hobby, to name a few. Just as you would schedule work tasks, schedule tasks that maintain your health and well-being.

TIP #4: KEEP STRIVING

On the other side of the coin, a common quote for hard workers states “No pain, No gain…” For me, I believe in the power of positive stress and being pumped to push through obstacles. In business, the concept of the ‘bottom-line’, or net-profit, exemplifies this notion of doing EVERYTHING YOU CAN, to not only be surviving above water, but thriving and climbing to the top of your mountain.

In the passionate way I like to do things, “EVERYTHING I CAN” means to find balance, but simultaneously be thorough in the details. Be interested to know and learn from experts in many fields. A hands-on approach will exude enthusiasm to potential licensees by showing dedication to your idea. In my own inventing practice, I’ve honed my 3D design skills as an advantage. However, I did not stop at advancing only my existing skill set, I was beyond eager to jump into new skills such as pitching potential licensees. “Be comfortable being uncomfortable” to keep striving and pushing your own boundaries towards success!

TIP #5: CELEBRATE SMALL SUCCESSES ALONG YOUR LICENSING JOURNEY

I’ve heard this from Stephen Key, and from coach Courtney and I fully believe it: CELEBRATE SMALL SUCCESSES! Give yourself some credit for your milestones. Celebrating enlivens the soul, boosts that positive attitude, and promotes happy feelings for everyone around you. To quote the highly respected and popular talk show host (and billionaire!), Oprah Winfrey: “The more you praise and celebrate your life, the more there is in life to celebrate.”

With the right motivation, you will be unstoppable! Thank you for taking the time to read my 3-part series. I hope you have found these tips and strategies to be as useful and applicable as I have to my inventing/licensing practice. Please feel free to add any of these skills to your arsenal. You may be pleasantly surprised at what you can accomplish! Which of these 14 tips are you most excited to try?
